Welcome to the Ship Blog by Dunebuggie on YT!

May 5th, 2014

We went out driving in Sault Ste. Marie looking for ships to record.  I looked up the Boatnerd.com website and found that we had quite a few in the area.  I'll have to screen shot the website next time.  Because it was just packed with ships in the area.

So, we got some dinner at West Pier and saw the Federal Satsuki, the ??? and the Buffalo near the International bridge all headed down bound.  I just looked them up on Boatnerd.com today May 6th.  The Buffalo is already down by St. Clair, Michigan!

So, we got our food and drinks really fast from West Pier (thanks guys!).  We headed out back towards the Soo Locks and over to Rotary Park.  That's where I caught an excellent video of the Burns Harbor headed upbound.  We figured it would take awhile for the ships we saw near West Pier to make it through the locks.

Here is the first video of the Burns Harbor!

Then we headed over to Anne Osborn Park anticipating that the downbound ships would soon appear.  When we arrived at Anne Osborn Park we saw the Burns Harbor approaching the Federal Satsuki.  They saluted each other, which is always awesome.  Another ship also blew it's horn, but I don't know the identity of that ship.  This is all in the following video,

So, after some driving around all the way back to West Pier and probably encountering into other boat chasers along the way, we headed back to Rotary Park.

I caught this really close up view of the Federal Satsuki!

I'll be posting more about my experiences on May 5th and beyond in my next vlog!
